Once a busy Yorke Peninsula port, shipping wool, grain and timber, Pine Point is now a popular location for holiday makers. There is a safe beach, well known for its crabbing and fishing potential and easy access to the boat ramp.

The town boasts a tennis court, a caravan park, and a licensed general store selling those essential items such as newspapers, take away food, bait and fuel.  Pine Point was named after the large number of native pines growing in the area.
