It's a world wide treasure hunt!

Geocaching (pronounced geo-cashing) is a popular past time for many travellers.  It provides an opportunity to see parts of the world that you would never find otherwise.  Geocaching combines technology and your own sense of adventure through the use of GPS-enabled devices.  Navigate to a specific set of coordinates and discover the geocache hidden at that location.

tupperware geocacheThese caches can be found all over the world in diverse locations.  They vary in size and appearance - anything from a small plastic container, a film canister or even a fake rock with a secret compartment! Each geocache contains a log book or sheet for you to log your find.  Usually there are some small items inside.  If you take an item, always leave something of equal or greater value for the next person to find.  Once you've finished with the cache, put it back in it's original position.  Then share your findings online for the rest of the geocaching community to enjoy.

There are plenty of geocaches on Yorke Peninsula just waiting for you to discover them.  All you need to start playing is to register for a free Geocaching membership at www.geocaching.com.au or download the Geocaching app.
